NOMIS Partnership

The Munich Cluster of Systems Neurology (SyNergy), a Cluster of Excellence, is a Munich-based research consortium dedicated to understanding how complex neurological diseases arise from disturbances in cellular networks within the brain. Funded under Germany’s Excellence Strategy, SyNergy unites leading scientists and clinicians from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and several partner institutions. The cluster integrates neuroscience, medicine, biology and computational sciences to investigate disorders such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis, exploring how these conditions can be improved and neurons replaced.

By combining experimental models, advanced imaging and systems biology, SyNergy aims to translate fundamental discoveries into innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Structured training programs and interdisciplinary collaboration foster excellence in research and support early-career scientists. In 2026, NOMIS and SyNergy established a new partnership through a postdoctoral fellowship program to foster the next generation of scientific leaders in the emerging field of systems neurology.
