NOMIS Partnership
In an era of rapidly advancing biomedical science, many of the most important discoveries arise at the intersection of disciplines. Understanding the brain and its disorders requires integrating molecular biology, systems neuroscience, computational modeling, advanced imaging and clinical research. Addressing these complex challenges demands environments that actively promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy) was established to meet this need. The cluster unites leading scientists and clinicians across institutions to investigate neurological diseases from a systems-level perspective. SyNergy aims to uncover overarching mechanisms underlying disorders such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative, neuroinflammatory or neurovascular conditions to foster resilience and repair and identify novel therapeutic targets.
To address this challenge, the NOMIS Foundation and SyNergy have established an interdisciplinary fundamental research initiative geared toward outstanding postdoctoral researchers. The NOMIS–SyNergy Fellowship Program offers highly talented postdoctoral scientists the opportunity to explore ambitious research questions that bridge two or more disciplines within a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment. Fellows benefit from dedicated mentorship provided by internationally recognized experts and established leaders in their respective fields.
