NOMIS–Collegium Helveticum Senior Fellowship Program

NOMIS Partnership

In an increasingly complex world, responses to the major challenges of the future require not only specialized knowledge but also cross-disciplinary collaboration. This important work calls for a willingness to adopt different perspectives. Only through open dialogue and collaboration at the intersection of disciplines can we enable the deep exploration of fundamental questions needed to spark new insights and innovation.

The NOMIS–Collegium Helveticum Senior Fellowship Program supports exceptional thinkers who are poised to explore these intersections. Established in 2025, the program invites leading international researchers to step away from their routine teaching and administrative obligations to pursue high-risk, high-reward research. It is designed for scholars whose expertise inspires colleagues across disciplines and who are eager to engage with a diverse community to address the critical questions of our time.

For a period of typically five or 10 months, NOMIS–Collegium Helveticum Senior Fellows are hosted at the Collegium Helveticum, the joint institute for advanced study of ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland. Located in the heart of the city, the Collegium provides a sanctuary for open dialogue and collaboration and fosters a vibrant culture of curiosity. Here, fellows are given the freedom, resources, and world-class infrastructure to work closely with partner faculty on ideas that transcend institutional walls.

The NOMIS–Collegium Helveticum Senior Fellowship Program helps cultivate an environment where cross-disciplinary dialogue flourishes, enriching Zurich’s dynamic academic community, advancing knowledge, and inspiring innovative interdisciplinary approaches that resonate well into the future.
