Collegium Helveticum

NOMIS Partnership

The Collegium Helveticum is the Swiss institute for advanced study, supported by ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the Zurich University of the Arts. Each year, it hosts up to 40 international fellows who pursue their projects, exchange across disciplines and host their own event. Through its interconnected fellowship and event program, the Collegium is an inspiring meeting place for both international scholars and different audiences to come together.

The Collegium’s international fellowship program is open to both highly promising early-career researchers and artists as well as exceptional scholars and artists who are established in their careers. The Collegium values diversity and welcomes applications from all disciplines represented at its supporting institutions.

The Collegium Helveticum was founded by ETH Zurich in 1997 as a graduate school for doctoral students and early postdocs to facilitate dialogue with international guests. Since 2004, the Collegium has been supported by both ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, and in 2016, the Zurich University of the Arts joined to foster exchange between the arts and sciences. The Collegium is part of the Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NetIAS) and the University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS) and is a partner of the Virtual Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Study (VUIAS).

The Collegium Helveticum has been a NOMIS partner since 2025. Together, they have established the NOMIS–Collegium Helveticum Senior Fellowship Program to attract exceptional thinkers to Zurich, strengthen the city’s academic community, foster cross-border and cross-disciplinary collaborations, and inspire innovative approaches to the challenges of our time.
